## What Apparatus is
Apparatus is the app J & S Fluid Power uses to record the repair of hydraulic cylinders, pumps,
motors and valves. It is not open to the public. Accounts are created by J & S, for its own staff
and for the customers whose equipment it repairs.
## What we collect
Only what the app needs to do its job.
**About you, if you have an account**
- Your name
- Your email address, which is also how you sign in
- An account identifier, created when the account is made
- The company you belong to, and whether you are J & S staff or a customer
**About the work**
- Equipment records: serial numbers, part and model numbers, the manufacturer, and the company the
equipment belongs to
- Repair records: dates, what failed, the measurements and findings taken at the bench, and which
technician did the work
- Photographs of equipment taken during a repair, either with the camera or chosen from the
device's photo library
- The signature a technician draws when signing off a repair sheet
We do not ask for or hold payment details, card numbers, dates of birth, government identifiers,
or your location.
## What we do not do
- No advertising.
- No tracking. We do not follow you across other apps or websites, and the app contains no
analytics or advertising software of any kind.
- We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for anybody else's marketing.
## Why we hold it
To keep an accurate repair history for the equipment we service, to work out whether a repair is
still under warranty, to produce the failure analysis and assembly reports we send to customers,
and to let a customer see the history of their own equipment.
## Who can see it
- J & S staff see the records for the work they do.
- A customer who signs in sees their own equipment and its repair history, and nothing belonging to
anybody else. That restriction is enforced on the server, not merely hidden in the app.
- A report goes only to the customer the work was done for.
## Where it is held
Records, photographs and sign-in details are held on Google Firebase, which J & S uses to host the
app's data. Information travels between the app and Firebase over an encrypted connection. Google
holds and processes it on our behalf and does not use it for its own purposes.
## How long we keep it
A repair history is a business record, and we keep it for as long as the account is open so that a
piece of equipment can be traced over its working life. A deleted record is hidden from view and
can be restored by an administrator. If you want your account closed, ask us and we will close it.
## Children
Apparatus is a tool for a working business. It is not intended for children, and we do not
knowingly collect anything from them.
## Your choices
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to close your account. Use the
contact details below.
The app asks for the camera and the photo library only at the moment a technician adds a photograph
to a repair. You can refuse, and everything else in the app carries on working.
## Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top of it.
